iGEM2018
Join the iGEM team Utrecht 2018!
Are you a student in the Life Sciences, interested in synthetic biology and would you like to work in a team with students from different disciplines to address real-world issues and to compete with other teams around the world? Are you ambitious and self-motivating? Would you like to be involved in running a research project from start to finish? Then the iGEM (international Genetically Engineered Machine) competition is something for you.
Being member of an iGEM team means that you develop and design a living machine by genetic engineering to solve an important problem. From March to July you will work part-time on working-out a project plan, while the summer break is used to work with the team on the experimental work. The results and all other iGEM team activities are then presented at the giant jamboree in October 2018 in Boston (USA).
Who can apply? Third year bachelor students or master students (age 23 or younger on March 31, 2018)
How to apply? Send an email to Margot Koster (M.C.Koster@uu.nl) before Wednesday February 21, with the following information; name, student number, gender, and study programme. Also motivate why and how you want to contribute to the team. Many different skills are needed for a good team, including laboratory skill, programming, fundraising skills, communication and social media skills.
For the applicants there will be an information evening on Thursday February 22 from 17.00 – 18.00 in the David de Wied Building, room M2.01, followed by interviews with the supervisors as part of the selection procedure.
